Overview

Uconnect® is an innovative and flexible integration tool that connects transactional applications. The core purpose of Uconnect is to increase productivity by enabling an organization to automate search, extraction and indexing activity. Uconnect pays for itself by seamlessly assisting the following functions:

  • Search content management solutions from any desktop, host or Web application
  • Update transactional applications from image, XML or screen sources
  • Extract data from business screens for presentment to mission critical systems
  • Import documents and metadata to content management solutions in any format

Uconnect provides the capability to connect, and thus integrate applications, document repositories and/or data structures; out of the box and without additional client screens. Uconnect requires no programming and no complicated technical skills. In fact, most search-based integration can be done in less than 15 minutes per screen!

How It Works

Uconnect has the unique ability to “talk to” almost any Windows, Web or host-based (emulated) application as well as data structures such as XML.


At the core, Uconnect connects and integrates a source business application or data structure to a target business application, content repository or data structure.


All integration between the “source” and “target” is configured within the easy-to-use administration console. You simply point to the “source” screen or structure that you want to integrate and then graphically select the fields that should be used within the integration. Once you have selected a field from the “source”, then you can instruct Uconnect how to utilize that field to integrate with the “target”. For example you may want to:

  • Search a content management repository “target” using the “source” data from a Web application
  • Move validated data from a data-entry “source” screen to a “target" Windows or Web application to index a scanned image and eliminate duplicate data-entry
  • Extract data from a “source” application within a workflow step creating a “target” data structure that the workflow can use in a subsequent step or transaction

There is no limit to the number of source and target fields or data items that can be integrated. In addition, regular expressions can be used to “massage” the data in order to affect proper integration.


As previously mentioned, Uconnect requires no client interface! Once the integration is configured, it is available to all licensed users by simply pressing a single, predefined “hot-key” (e.g. F11). When the defined “hot-key” is pressed, Uconnect instantly performs the desired communication based on the assigned template.


By utilizing the “one-touch” simplicity of Uconnect to eliminate duplicate data entry or access relevant documents, users experience increased productivity and accuracy.
